Landed in Helsinki and our good buddy Segu from Kopteri Magazine picked us up in his crazy Ford racer. As we drove through the rain our minds were still blown from our experience in Stockholm and we were curious what Helsinki had in store. Going to Finland is one of those dreamlike trips for an American; it's so far north and a bit off the beaten path... It was an absolute pleasure hanging out with Segu, Mala and their crew and learning about their perspective looking down on all the rest of us (literally). The city is a bit like a town you might construct as a small model with trams, quaint parks and squares, and sidewalks so clean you could eat off them. Then the party starts and the vodka flows... Scott was interested in sampling more of the local beer, but I'm more of a cocktail guy (rum and cokes, etc.) so I asked Segu about the best drink for me while in town. He explained that for him and anyone in the know there is only one cool drink in Helsinki, the Kossu-Vissy. In layman's terms it's a vodka and water, but up there the vodka is pure and the water clear. Suffice it to say it's refreshing, strong and you don't get a hang over.
Segu and Mala arranged for a Brittown screening and party at local joint "Texas" and the Cosh Boys rocked out afterwards. The bar was so incredible, it was actually more Texas than TEXAS. The people were warm and everyone seemed to enjoy the show, a few guys even rode down from Lapland and it was our pleasure to meet them. After the festivities ended we found ourselves outside, hugging farewell to our new friends and walking back to the hotel. It was 2am and the sun was starting to come up.
